Built at home by John during the winter of 1997/8. The Fibreglass body kit was supplied by Quantum Sports Cars of Stourbridge. The donor vehicle was a 1987 Ford Fiesta 1.4S which provided most mechanical components as well as the dashboard, seats, and window glass.
The engine was rebuilt and fitted with a Kent "Fast Road" camshaft.
A reconditioned gearbox completed the mechanical restoration. New Monroe "Sensatrac" shock absorbers and OZ racing alloy wheels add to the sports car handling characteristics. The electrics were upgraded to include central locking, electric windows and a modern anti-theft alarm system. The yellow finish is a gel coat at least one millimetre thick. Because of the colour we call her "Marigold"
The canvas hood is completely wind and waterproof, making the car an ideal daily transport. A special feature of the car is the cavernous boot, which is great for extended touring. The latest "mods" have been to add the very effective front wheel mud-flaps and equally effective wind break behind the seats to cut out the back draught.
Quantum Sports Cars make a range of modern cars, all using Ford Fiesta mechanical components. They are now located at Xtreme Works, Loddiswell Devon TQ7 4DU. Telephone 01548 550660.
The total cost of the project was just under £10,000.

mud thrown up from the front wheels.
